About Me
My name is Carlton Stedman and I am a recent Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) graduate from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) as of 2007. Now, I live in Providence, Rhode Island (RI) and work for ON Semiconductor in East Greenwich, RI, as an Applications Engineer of switched-mode power supplies (SMPS) in the Automotive Power Regulation Group. I am currently undertaking a graduate distance learning program at the University of Colorado at Boulder to obtain a master’s in ECE with a concentration in power electronics.
I identify myself as a strong atheist who is a proponent of laissez-faire capitalism, lying somewhere between an anarcho-capitalist and a minarchist. I value personal freedom and liberty above all else as the sole means to long-term individual happiness, the goal of the solitary mortal life I have. I share many conclusions with libertarians, but disagree with their (typically) amoral, pragmatic and compromising premises and am instead grounded in the morality of rational self-interest.
I identify myself as an Objectivist (of the Ayn Rand Institute interpretation). I am a strong individualist and despise collectivism, be it socialism, fascism, Keynesian economics, religion and all other forms. My hatred is due to them being means to invalidate the morality of individual happiness by making man the sacrificial lamb on a pyre lit by some collective.
To put it succinctly and philosophically:
- Metaphysics: naturalism
- Epistemology: reason
- Ethics: egoism
- Politics: freedom
I am currently engaged to Jillian Jakson. We are planning to wed in winter of 2010.
